Henry Huggins (novel)
Henry Huggins is the first book in the Henry Huggins series of children's novels, written by Beverly Cleary and illustrated by Louis Darling.[1] It is about a boy named Henry Huggins who finds a dog while going to the drug store and names it "Ribsy". This book was a response to a letter from a child saying, "Where are the books about the kids like us?" One critic called the character of "Henry" the "modern Tom Sawyer."[2]
The character of Henry Huggins returned in later books and also in a play which was written by Beverly Cleary and Cynthia J. McGean.[1]
This book was written in the 1950's The main character of the book are Ribsy and Henry. Henry is a kind by protective person. Ribsy is a cute and loving dog.
